HOLY WEEK AT EVERYDAY
Palm Sunday - Resurrection Sunday | April 14-20
We are joining the global church by hosting Holy Week gatherings in the Prayer Room! Each day will focus on a Biblical theme found in the story of Jesus’ life leading up to His death, burial, and resurrection. Join us in the Prayer Room to read Scripture, prayerfully engage with the provided reflection questions, and take communion as we gather daily!
SUNDAY, APRIL 13 | 2:30 + 5:30 PM
Join us for Palm Sunday on April 13th, as we center ourselves on the excellencies of Christ through His triumphal entry! Get ready for lots of palm branches! Our older preschool + elementary students will join us in the Prayer Room to celebrate Jesus as the Messiah.
DAILY MEDITATION SETS
Throughout the week, we will have special Prayer Room sets at 6 PM dedicated to meditating on the final days of Jesus’ life. Scripture readings and reflection questions will guide you through the topics of the Lord’s zeal, our preparation for the Bridegroom, the contrast of Judas’ betrayal and Mary’s devotion, and Jesus as the Suffering Servant.
Not able to join in person? Participate at home and follow along with the guide below!
Scripture Reference: Jesus Clears the Temple
Mark 11:15-19
Supplemental Scriptures: Psalm 18, Amos 5:21-24
Personal Meditation:
On this day, Jesus embodied the zeal of God and showed us that our Father is the God of Justice. God is not weak or passive. He is not disengaged from the injustices and oppression we experience, nor is He intimidated by the situations and systems that have wronged us. Today, we meditate on the just zeal of the Lord.
Communion Meditation:
Jesus, Lord of Justice: As we take communion, we give You permission to be our defender and our advocate. Save us, oh Lord, according to Your unfailing love!
Scripture Reference: Parable of the Ten Virgins
Matthew 25:1-13
Supplemental Scriptures: Hebrews 11, Revelation 22:17-21
Personal Meditation:
On this day, Jesus points His followers to a coming day of joy and judgment. The Parable of the Ten Virgins provokes us to ask, “Am I ready for the Bridegroom? Where is there procrastination or apathy in my life with God?” The Lord will return to His people as a Bridegroom returns for his bride. Today, we meditate on our preparedness for that day.
Communion Meditation:
Jesus, our Bridegroom: As we take communion, we say that we are devoted to You in Your physical absence as we eagerly await Your return. Maranatha, come Lord Jesus!
Scripture Reference: Judas Betrays Jesus; Mary Anoints Jesus
Matthew 26:6-16, John 12:1-7
Supplemental Scriptures: Psalm 31, Psalm 84
Personal Meditation:
On this day, Jesus experiences both radical devotion and heartbreaking betrayal. Both Mary and Judas had followed Him for years; however, one saw Him rightly and gave everything, while the other betrayed and rejected Him. Those who walk with Jesus eventually reach a point of decision: will they use Jesus for personal gain or, in light of His worthiness, surrender everything?
Communion Meditation:
Jesus, our Everything: As we take communion, we admit our tendency towards selfishness. We treasure these elements as symbols of your devotion to us, and we respond with extravagance, giving You all we have.
Scripture Reference: The Last Supper and the Garden of Gethsemane
John 13-17; Luke 22:39-46
Supplemental Scriptures: Lamentations 31:1-36, Psalm 6
Personal Meditation:
On this day, the humility and humanity of Jesus are on display. During the meal known as the Last Supper, Jesus washes his disciples' feet and comforts them in their distress. Afterwards, He walks to His favorite place to pray and weeps in agony before His father while His disciples sleep. Jesus willingly embodies human suffering, submits to His Father’s will, and prepares for His death.
Communion Meditation:
Jesus, our Humble King: As we take communion, we remember Your loneliness, submission, and betrayal. We ask for grace to be faithful servants like You, always looking to your example to emulate Your perfect, selfless love.
GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE | 6 PM
On this day, the perfect Son of God was crucified and buried. We will gather on Good Friday to behold the Lamb of God, slain for us. This service will feature a choral arrangement by Kandi Peterson, and reflections on Matthew 27:11-54, John 19:1-37, and Isaiah 53. Can’t make it to the service? Follow along with the guide below!
*We encourage you to consider wearing black to this service.
Note: There will be moments of silence—parents, please consider if this is a good fit for your children.
Scripture Reference: The Crucifixion
Matthew 27:11-54, Luke 23; John 19:1-37; Isaiah 53
Supplemental Scripture: Psalm 22
Personal Meditation:
On this day, the perfect Son of God was crucified and buried. Unjustly accused and treated with contempt, He voluntarily embodied the full wrath of God against sin. To the very end, He acted in forgiveness and mercy. When He cried, “It is finished,” and gave up His spirit, the physical earth shook under the weight, and the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Behold the Lamb of God, slain.
Communion Meditation:
Jesus, our Sacrifice: As we take communion, we remember that your body was broken and your blood was shed so that we could be forgiven and reconciled back into relationship with Father God. Thank you for healing us by your stripes and washing us clean from all unrighteousness.
Saturday, APril 19 | 8 AM
On this day, everything stopped. Jesus was gone, dead and buried in a tomb. We will open the Prayer Room at 8 AM to meditate on the sobriety of the crucifixion’s aftermath. The Prayer Room will be quiet and dark—a reflection of the “not yet” of Christ’s resurrection. In silence, we will unify around Luke 23:54-56.
Note: This is a silent set—parents, please consider if this is a good fit for your children.
Scripture Reference: The Silent Sabbath
Luke 23:54-56
Personal Meditation:
On this day, everything stopped. Jesus was gone - dead and buried in a tomb. Every hope had gone, every possibility exhausted and found impossible. The followers of Jesus were in their most grieved and disoriented state as their hope came crashing down, and they were left alone. On this “Day 2” of darkness, we lament His death and ache for His resurrection.
Communion Meditation:
On this day, we will abstain from taking communion to remind ourselves of the absence of Jesus on this day in history.
*We encourage you to consider fasting from food on this day.
